In August 2009
Armin and I met a couple of times to play acoustic sessions and there he came with the first ideas for a rather complex but very intense and beautiful tune. He wanted to start the lyrics with "She's walking on a rainbow".
We worked a bit on the song, tried various structures but finally Armin decided to take a break. During that time he already had to fight hard with all the effects of chemo and cancer, so he wanted to continue at home and the next time we meet, we said we would record it.
But, there was no more next time, the cancer hit too fast.
Even though his song will never be finished, the line stuck in my head and now, thinking of Armin, this is where I picture him now:
Walking On A Rainbow
Farewell, Armin, you're not forgotten!
Jörn and Nils
Walking On A Rainbow
Walking on a rainbow
all the colors feel so blue
an unknown path leads to foreign lands
and here I stand, I'm missing you
They say that every end always means a start
and in the end we all play our part
still I pretend to understand and for a while I'm missing you
But I know
you're walking on a rainbow
yes I know you crossed the line
but I know you feel the sun glow
and I know you're doing fine
Only for a moment in time we deviate
and there's no more room for you left to negotiate
fate is taken out of your hands and you oughta reconsile
justice seems to have lost its way and it's so hard to say good-bye
But I know
you're walking on a rainbow
yes I know you crossed the line
I know you feel the sun glow
and I know you're doing fine
